Building Local Continuums of Care - To Support Youth Success

Since 2024, JBS International, Inc. has provided training and implementation support to grantees of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP) Building Local Continuums of Care to Support Youth Success initiative. The Continuum of Care framework aims to promote safe communities, keep families together, and expand opportunities for justice-involved and at-risk children and youth.

Alongside our partners, Social Current and the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Juvenile Justice Institute, JBS supports OJJDP grantees in planning and assessment activities that will inform the development of a community-based continuum of promising and evidence-based prevention and intervention services. This work serves as a strong foundation for preventing youth from entering the juvenile justice system—or diverting them from moving deeper into the system (i.e., detention and corrections)—and ultimately providing them with the skills they need to lead productive, safe, healthy, and law-abiding lives.

A well-resourced continuum should include a range of supports and opportunities that build on youth and family strengths and assets to promote healthy development, improve family functioning, meet essential needs, and strengthen neighborhoods. Our approach helps grantees identify promising strategies to meet the needs of youth and families in their communities and develop economic impact strategies that result in cost savings and the ability to reinvest in the larger Continuum of Care.
